Wall damp proofing treatment starts from N25,000 per room depending on wall area, damp severity, and treatment product used. Full chemical injection damp courses for rising damp are quoted on inspection.
Waterproofing protects against direct water penetration (roofs, external walls, flat roofs). Damp proofing treats moisture that rises through walls from the ground or migrates through porous masonry — a different problem requiring different materials.
Common causes include: no damp-proof course at foundation level (common in older Lagos buildings), cracked external render, porous blocks, and poor site drainage that keeps soil around the building permanently wet.
Quality damp proofing treatment lasts 5–10 years depending on the product and severity of the original problem. Annual inspection and maintenance extends the effective life.
