Letting a stranger into your home is a significant act of trust. Most home service bookings in Lagos are made through WhatsApp referrals or roadside contacts, with no verification whatsoever. PronearMe is built on the principle that trust must be earned through a verifiable process.
Here is exactly how we vet every artisan before they can accept bookings on the platform.
Step 1: Identity verification
Every artisan must submit a government-issued ID (NIN slip, voter's card, international passport, or driver's licence) before their profile goes live. We verify the ID against their submitted details.
This alone eliminates a huge proportion of bad actors; most informal contractors operate precisely because there is no accountability.
Step 2: Skills assessment
Artisans declare their skills and areas of expertise during signup. For specialist trades (electrical, AC, generator), we require evidence of training or certification. This is reviewed by our operations team.
Step 3: References
New artisans provide at least 2 references from previous clients. Our team contacts these references before approving the profile.
Step 4: Ongoing customer reviews
After every completed booking, the customer is invited to leave a star rating and written review. These are published publicly on the artisan's profile. Any artisan whose rating drops below our threshold is suspended and reviewed.
Step 5: Dispute resolution
When things go wrong, our support team mediates. Artisans who do not meet our standards are removed from the platform.
What this means for you
When you book through PronearMe, you are getting someone who has passed identity checks, provided references, and built a real review history. That is the PronearMe guarantee.
